Paul Reiser
Paul Reiser is a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer for television. Born on 30th March 1956, in New York City, he finished his schooling at the East Side Hebrew Institute and the Stuyvesant High School. He completed his graduation in music from Binghamton University.
While being a student in college, he actively participated in the theater productions put up by his university. While performing at clubs in New York during his summer breaks, he realized his potential in comedy and also his love for the field.
Career and Achievements
Reiser had been establishing himself as a stand-up comedian when his calling for Hollywood knocked at his doorstep. This is when he found himself a part of the movie, Diner, in 1982. The character he played shed light on his acting skills, thereby beginning his journey in acting.
His appearance followed this success in the movie, Beverly Hills Cop, in 1984, where he played the role of a detective, which also earned him love and fame. He was present in the sequel of this movie as well, which was titled Beverly Hills Cop II and released in 1987.
Reiser played the character of an evil villain named Carter Burke in a 1986 movie titled Aliens. In the coming years, he was seen in films such as The Marrying Man and Bye Bye Love. Reiser earned a lot of love for his portrayal of Paul Buchman in the show Mad About You, for which he was also the co-creator. The actress who played his wife in this comedy series was Helen Hunt. He was seen in the sitcom, My Two Dads, which ran from 1987 to 1990.
Reiser has authored three books so far. His book, Couplehood, explored the many sides of being in a committed bond with someone. The book, Babyhood, was about the time he became a father for the first time. His collection of essays, Familyhood, came out in May of 2011.
The collection included multiple funny pieces. Interestingly enough, his book titled Couplehood begins only on page 145. He later on explained that this was his way of giving his readers a feeling of accomplishment. One of the recent TV shows for which he received adoration and acclaim was Stranger Things, which is a series on Netflix. He also appeared in the third season of the TV series, The Boys in the year 2022.
