A Christmas Story
A boy named Ralphie has a passion for BB Guns. And in one Christmas day, he wished to have a Red Ryder BB Gun as a gift. That is the focal point of ‘A Christmas Story’ plot that has been derived from the book of the same title written by Joseph Robinette. The musical version was written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and the musical show started in the 1940’s.
Another musical show to perform during the Christmas season, ‘A Christmas Story’ is one of the humorous and fun to watch. The nostalgia it brings to the families, especially for the parent is highly expected.
The musical show premiered at different theaters across the United States of America from 2009- 2013. Divided into two act show, ‘A Christmas Story’ is composed of musical scores with an orchestral introduction in each act and a full cast singing at the end of the show. A total of 22 genuinely arranged music has filled ‘A Christmas Story’. The cast of characters along with Ralphie are: Jean Shepherd, The Old Man, Miss Shields, the Mother and Randy. Altogether, they deliver a wonderful performance along the state of the art set designs and wardrobe to make it more realistically described in the original book.
As the performance last for several years, a lot of nominations have been given to ‘A Christmas Story: A Musical’. It bagged 11 nominations in 2013’s Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama Award and 67th Tony Awards. Some of the category includes: Outstanding New Broadway Musical, Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Music and Choreography, Outstanding Book of a Musical, Outstanding Orchestra, Best Original Score, Music and Book of a Musical. Although they did not win in any nomination, it is a proof that ‘A Christmas Story’ is one of the few musical Broadway presentations that is highly paid from perseverance and hard work of the whole production.
