State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine

The State Ballet Theater's Past
At the beginning of the 20th century, dancers like B. Nezhinskaya, O. Kochetkovsky, and O. Osovskaya formed a ballet company at the theatre. Vaslav Nijinsky and Serge Lifar, both born in Kyiv, were two of the most famous dancers of the 20th century.
In the years after World War II, the theatre had many more ways to be creative. The company also brought in a galaxy of talented young artists along with masterful directors.
In the 1950s, the State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine went on its first tour outside of Europe. It has grown since then to become one of the most eminent performing arts groups in Europe. It had a lot of success when it went to France, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Hungary, and other places.
The group performed at the International Paris Classical Dance Festival in 1964. The same prize was also given to Valeriy Kovtun and Tatyana Tayakina in later years.
The Kyiv Ballet's performances in Paris were some of Europe's prime cultural events. They were a big reason the company performed in North America, Europe, and Asia.
