A Thrilling Musical
Vital Theater Company is here with the musicals of Owen and Mzee the Musical. It tells the story of Owen, a baby hippo, and Mzee, a 130-year-old giant tortoise. Based on a warm and wonderful true story, Owen and Mzee the Musical from the Vital Theater Company is sure to melt your hearts.
The story tells us how Owen got stuck and was left all alone during a tsunami, and even though the Kenyan villagers worked a lot to rescue him, Owen and Mzee adopted each other and came to one another's rescue. This story is indeed a reminder that friendship can happen even between the unlikeliest of people, and it can turn into something warm, loving, nurturing, and everlasting.

They believe that if they can even inspire one adult, empower a single student, and stir the imagination of just one child, they will consider themselves successful in what they're doing.
Created in 1999, Vital Theater Company was developed with the vision of giving a chance to talented artists who wished to participate in the theater, and this vision has only grown ever since.
The company has plenty of awards and accolades to its name, including the American Theater Wing Award for Continued Commitment to Excellence in Theater in 2006 and 2007, the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Family Musical in 2012, All Star Project Inc.'s Community Recognition Award, and Theater Company of the Year Award by nytheatre.com.
As it begins its 14th season, Vital Theater Company has, so far, produced 75 original productions for an audience of more than 300,000 kids and their families. Vital Theater Company also has a glittering Arts-in-Education program known as Vital Voices.
This program includes theater arts into the main curriculum by collaborating with more than 1,700 NYC public school students and eight school communities. The aim behind this is to include something more than just academic achievements and provide creative stimulation in the process as well.
