Early Life
John Crist was born on March 20, 1984, in a town near Atlanta, Georgia. His father was a priest. His first job was at a restaurant called "Chick-fil-A," where he was fired for mixing lemonade with his hand.
John went to Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and got a degree in journalism in 2006. In 2009, he made his first major television appearance on the nationally syndicated comedy show Bigger Than, hosted by Louie Anderson in Las Vegas.
Career
In 2009, John performed his first at an open mic night in a restaurant in Chile. As part of a comedy tour, he did shows for American troops in the Middle East.
In 2014, he was on Louie Anderson's episode of AXS TV's Gotham Comedy Live. In the fall of that year, he moved to Los Angeles to advance his career.
I Got Questions, John Crist's first comedy DVD, came out at the end of 2015. Then, in the summer of 2016, he made Christian Music: How It's Made, a three-minute comedy sketch. He wrote the script for the video, and Aaron Chewning made it. They played two record company executives who advised a new Christian band on how to get big in the music business. After the video went viral, John became even more popular. More than two million people have watched the video on YouTube. Along with Aaron Chewning, John often works with another Christian musician and comedian, Trey Kennedy.
In the fall of 2017, John sold out all 20 East Coast cities on his first headlining tour, "Captive Thoughts."
He joined the United Talent Agency that summer of 2018 and relocated to Nashville. Later that year, he participated in Winter Jam's annual Christian music tour and started his second headlining tour, the Human Being Tour, which went to 55 U.S. cities.
